“Oshogatsu” means New Year in Japanese and 2013 is the “Year of the Snake”. To celebrate this, JANM (Japanese American National Museum) brings you a day filled with shows and activities for the whole family. There were so many things going on like the reptile petting zoo by Reptacular Animals, snake candy sculpture by world renowned candy artist Shaun Ichiyanagi, Onigiri (rice balls) work shop and contest and Mochitsuki (traditional rice cake pound ceremony) performance and demonstration by Kodama Taiko.
