I had the great honor and was thrilled to spin for the Giant Robot Biennale 3 (September 23rd – January 20th) opening reception at the JANM (Japanese American National Museum). They had over 1500 peeps come through the doors tonight to check out the works of Rob Sato, Deth P. Sun, Ako Castuera, Eishi Takaoka, Saelee Oh, Sean Chao, Albert Reyes, David Horvath, Jeni Yang and Zach Gage. Included was the Project Remix Art Works created by Eric Nakamura, a collaboration customizing of David Horvath Ugly Dolls and the Giant Robot Big Boss vinyl figure, with over 80 artists from 7 countries involved. There was also a very special funky performance by the one and only Money Mark (Beastie Boys keyboardist), whom I’m a big fan of. He opened with the Star Spangle Banner played on a analog box, so dope. Since I was spinning the whole night, I didn’t get a chance to explore and view any of the exhibits but will revisit soon. Big thanks to Eric (Giant Robot) and Koji (JANM) for having me for this event and for keeping vinyl alive.
Peace!
