I’ve been to many Obon festival in the past, but this year, I finally had a chance to visit the one held at the West Los Angeles Buddhist Temple (July 28th – July 29th). What a perfect day of beautiful weather to be out to enjoy the sights and sounds of traditional Japanese folk dance, music and art. Nothing beats the sounds of the drum in the distant. It was so cool that they actually closed down the street just so everyone could dance. With so many food booth to choose from, I had a hard time trying to decided what to eat. Lots of fun games for kids of all ages with a raffle and bingo for the older folks. On display indoor were many Japanese flower arrangements and Bonsai trees. Free parking is also available at the Trident Center one block away. It was really great to see friends and their family enjoying the day.
Peace!
