I love video games and the culture that rides with it, from playing coin operated machines in the arcades, console gaming at home or just listening to 8bit inspired music in the car. So tonight I headed to GR2 (Giant Robot 2) in West Los Angeles to check out the opening reception of there newest art exhibit titled Game Over (June 2nd  – June 27th). A tribute to video games, the culture and their characters. It was an electric night, a packed house with peeps from wall to wall admiring the works of art, while sipping on soda and listening to music from video games (background music) or it seemed, playing above. I was really blown away by a cute playable indie video game titled Catburger, a special collaboration between  programmer Beau Blyth and artist Jeni Yang, part of the ArtxGames series, how cool is that. The event was also viewable online via live web stream. Much props to Eric Nakamura, owner and publisher of Giant Robot, for putting on yet another great show of pop culture for all of us to learn from and enjoy here on the Westside. So be sure to drop by GR2 and check out the Game Over art exhibit before it’s gone.
