Writer/director Park Ki-Hyung`s 2003 psychological thriller follows a quirky adopted boy who quickly gets kicked to the curb when a long-awaited biological child is conceived. This sleepy thriller does a very clean job of overtelling a chilling tale of misfortune in the microcosmic world of Do-il (Kim Jin-Geun) and Mi-Sook (Shim Hye-Jin), two true-to-form melodramatic characters from the land of morning calm. Like its characters, the story moves much too slowly for any hip thrills for this to be considered a real horror film. Good cinematography, but very weak on characters and production, Acacia misses the mark on "keeping one on the edge of one`s seat," so to speak. The US DVD release does contain some special features, "Making Of," as well as cast and director commentaries and photo galleries, but don`t bother.
