The Slow Signal Fade

The Slow Signal Fade's sound is kind of reminiscent of early-to-mid-eighties goth/ethereal-era music from the 4AD label (Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, Xmal Deutschland) mixed with a little shoegaze wall of sound, with its stinging guitars, echoey basslines, and icy atmospherics. Translation: the sound is a bit anachronistic, but even these six modern goth epic-length songs can have the power to slow down the clock and capture and paralyze its listeners. There's a temptation to exoticize Sri Lankan singer Marguerite Olivelle--but in the end, in the big picture, who really cares where she's from? Simply put, her vocals--coupled with a cup of absinthe (on your end)--have the same effect of plugging in your spine into a wall socket. Mmmm...absinthe.
