Visiting the Yakult factory for a friendly guided tour of the state-of-the-art facility in Fountain Valley. The hour long tour are free and available Monday – Friday. Starting off the tour in the lobby with a explanation of Dr. Minoru Shirota discovery of the “L. paracasei” strain in 1930 and being accredited with creating the world’s first probiotic drink in 1935 which are enjoyed world wide. Next we head up stairs to the second level to view all international products avaliable from skin care to pharmaceuticles. A classroom presentation explains the history and gut health benefits of Yakult, including a drink tasting of the original and light versions .The tour ends with a walk through of the manufacturing and packaging of the iconic little bottles (photos not allowed). Over 950,000 bottles can be produced everday. A future second factory will be bulit in Georgia. It was such a fun experience, thank you Yakult and staff for having us.
